It's almost Thanksgiving...and that means one thing...BLACK FRIDAY...yahoo! And I am so ready this year. Everything that went wrong last year will be corrected this year.
My Black Friday buddy, Mercy, was out of town last year....so I had to go it alone. Kohl's was opening at 3am....then Target at 4am...and they share the same parking lot....a great bonus for Black Friday shopping.
I drove down the hill and arrived around 2:30am and STILL had to park at the far end of the lot. I took my dog, Boo, to keep me company. Boo is like holding a fifteen pound squishy hot water bottle, but I was still afraid we would be cold and didn't want to leave my car running. So I took my electric blaket and used my car adapter to plug it into the cigarette lighter. We got a little sleepy, so we crawled into the back of my jeep.
I always take my pie wagon on Black Friday in case all the carts are gone. Boo and I stretched out next to the pie wagon in the back of the jeep. I pulled up the hood on my sweatshirt and we wrapped up in the electric blanket.
Well...no surprise...we both fell asleep.
The next thing I knew, someone was knocking on my window. I sat up and Boo started barking his head off. I could see a small crowd of people around my car, and a policeman was knocking on the window. I climbed up to the front seat to turn on the car so I could roll down the window, and then I looked at my watch...oh crap....7:30...I totally slept though the Black Friday opening!
It seems a shopper parked next to me, saw us sleeping in the car...called the police and reported a dead homeless woman in a car.
The policeman wanted to take me to a woman's shelter. I had to call hubby Bud so the policeman could talk to him. "Hey Bud, would you talk to this policeman and tell him I'm not a homeless woman," I said. Smarty Bud replied, "Who's this? ...do I know you?" Finally I got Bud to stop kidding around and he assured the policeman I wasn't homeless.
So this year, Mercy can join me. We're still going at 2:30am and we're taking the electric blanket. But we're also taking coffee and...
Happy Thanksgiving...Happy Shopping!
Thanks for spending time in my world.
Rock On...Cheer Bliss
